Since it first opened in 2004, Alan Bennett’s comedy masterpiece has gone on to become one of the nation’s favourite plays.

Set in the 1980s, The History Boys is the story of a group of bright, funny and unruly sixth formers in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university. Their maverick English teacher is at odds with the young and shrewd supply teacher, whilst their headmaster is obsessed with results and league tables. Staffroom rivalry and the anarchy of adolescence overflow, provoking insistent questions about history and how you teach it. Their Alevels may be over, but their true education is only just beginning.

Bursting with witty one-liners and thought provoking questions, a vibrant ensemble cast bring Bennett’s Oxbridge hopefuls brilliantly to life as the boys discover the true meaning of education and give their teachers some lessons of their own.
