The Buxton Spa Prize 2015

The Buxton Spa Prize is an open art competition to celebrate the town’s culture, natural beauty and heritage. Over 50 artists entered the first year in 2014. One of the Buxton Spa Prize is to make the town an internationally recognised centre for visual arts.
1st Prize is £5000 and they are now open for entries. With the exhibition and judging taking place from the 17th July – 31st August.

In his new show, Daddy McGuinness, the comedian will be sharing with audiences several stories about becoming a dad for the first time.

A tense thriller set in deep winter in the English Lake District. Olivia and Robert, owners of the Langstrath Country House Hotel, are enjoying the success of their first season and the respite of the winter break when their solitude is disrupted by the appearance of Ramsay, a lost climber looking for shelter. As the evening unfolds, it becomes apparent that Ramsay’s presence in this desolate spot is anything but a coincidence, and soon events take a murderous turn.

We can safely assure that there is a separate space for drying outdoor clothing and footwear overnight. Boot scrapers are at the main door. There is also always a first aid kit on hand for any unfortunate bump and bruises. On entering the hotel, there is a daily forecast on display to assist planning any trek, and maps available at reception. If you’re lucky, one the helpful member of staff can also advise on desirable local routes and hidden gems.
