A gripping theatrical exploration of terror, The Woman in Black has been thrilling audiences of all ages with its unique blend of suspense, drama and bold stagecraft.

Arthur Cripps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the sole inhabitant of Eel Marsh House. At the funeral he glimpses a wasted young woman dressed all in black and a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold. Unable to talk to the locals, Arthur sets out to discover the secret behind the woman and her terrible purpose.

After celebrating its 25th year on the West End, The Woman in Black is coming to Buxton as part of a major UK tour.

Former BBC correspondent and ITV political editor John Sergeant is one of the UK’s most popular and respected broadcasters. His career in journalism has been lengthy and accomplished and has seen him conduct interviews with Margaret Thatcher, John Major and Tony Blair to name just a few.

His likeable personality spans all genres and as such, John also makes regular television appearances on The One Show, Have I Got News For You, and who can forget his appearance on Strictly Come Dancing where he was taken to the nation’s heart?

During the second half of his performance, John will conduct a Q&A and a free book signing after the event in the Opera House foyer.

Old Hall Hotel is the first in Buxton to achieve EQM

We are delighted to announce that we have become the first hotel in Buxton to be accredited with the Peak District National Park Authority’s Environmental Quality Mark (EQM).

The EQM recognises the hotel’s commitment to the local economy and environment, and we have been commended for our sustainable efforts which include ensuring that we are able to offer our guests delicious food from locally sourced produce.

Our guests have also helped us to achieve the EQM, by becoming involved with our initiatives during their stay. This includes drinking our complimentary filtered water which is available to all and enjoying a nice cup of Fairtrade Organic Matthew Algie coffee, which we offer free to all guests who travel to the hotel via public transport.

We’re absolutely thrilled with this accreditation and wish to thank our customers for helping us to become one of the greenest hotels in the region.

Christmas Market Night raises over £200 for Blythe House

Last night The Old Hall Hotel welcomed guests to its very first Christmas Market Night in aid of Blythe House Hospice.

Featuring various stalls from local traders selling fantastic gifts and produce, we were thrilled to see so many people turn out for spot of Christmas shopping with us.

The market, which was on from 6.30pm – 9.30pm, included a raffle to win some amazing prizes, including handmade candles, home accessories, beauty kits and much more. Well done to those who were lucky enough to win these fantastic goodies!

This year, we’ve enjoyed many events at The Old Hall Hotel; from mystery and suspense at our Murder Mystery Dinner, to glitz and glamour at our Fashion & Fizz nights. Next year, we’ll be hosting many more events and we’re looking forward to inviting you along too.
