Heritage Open Days
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. Every September some 40,000 volunteers across England organise 5,000 events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are free to explore. The dates for this years events are the 6-9th September and the 13-16th September 2018.
As England’s oldest hotel, The Old Hall Hotel certainly has some intriguing tales to tell and who better to tell them than Discover Buxton’s Netta Christie. There’s nothing that the team from Discover Buxton doesn’t know about Buxton and we’re thrilled that they will be at The Old Hall Hotel offering visitors a wealth of information about Buxton and our most famous guest Mary Queen of Scots. You will be offered a unique perception of Queen Mary’s time in Buxton, as well as giving a tour of the hotel and the room she stayed in, Queen Mary Bower.
You can also book to dine in the Wine Bar that serves food and drinks all day, or the Restaurant that served lunch between 12 and 2pm and Afternoon Tea between 2 and 4pm.
The Tales from the Bower tours will take place on the following dates & times;
Thursday 6th September – 1130
Friday 7th September – 1130 & 1300
Sunday 9th September – 1300
Thursday 13th September – 1130 & 1300
Sunday 16th September – 1300
